Celebrating 85 years of the Maguen David Community
in Mexico!
In the Mexican Jewish community, there is a rich diversity based on the origins of its members. The Maguen David Jewish community originate from Aleppo, Syria, and recently celebrated 85 years as an established community in Mexico with institutions that bear its name, such as synagogues, schools, cultural centers, and many community organizations. These institutions play an important role in preserving Jewish heritage and culture, fostering community connections, and education.
For 85 years the Maguen David community and the many institutions under its auspices have served the community, as a beacon of unity, tradition, and service to all its members.
On May 19th Israel Bonds was proud to celebrate this 85th anniversary with them at their community celebration event, which had something for every member of the family! From Maguen Kids, an enormous simulation of a city where kids could “work” in various institutions in exchange for “money”, to virtual reality tours of Aleppo, and a very special Hachnasat Sefer Torah (welcoming of a new Torah scroll) in which many members of the community participated in the writing of.
Congratulations to Maguen David and the event committee who put their hearts into making this a truly magical celebration for the entire community. We are especially proud of Yemy Siraz and Linda Sirazi, event committee members who are also Israel Bonds Women’s Division members.
