Israel Bonds New Leadership event in Berlin

Sebastian Hoffman
New Leadership Chair, Germany

On May 6, we had the great pleasure of welcoming 33 selected guests to the first Israel Bonds New Leadership event of the year in Berlin.

Rather than featuring a star speaker to address a specific topic, we chose to focus the evening on our core mission, Israel Bonds, along with the strength of our New Leadership Division and voluntary program. The evening was further elevated by three distinguished guests of honour, making it a truly memorable night of support for Israel.

Michael Grauss, Managing Director of Israel Bonds in Germany, opened the event with a thorough presentation about Israel Bonds. He also shared his personal and emotional impressions from his recent visit to Israel where he toured the sites of the Oct 7 terror attacks. His account was raw and heartfelt, bringing the reality of what transpired into the room in a way that was both sobering and deeply moving. Many in the audience were visibly shaken. Some of our non-Jewish guests were grateful to gain a better understanding of the far-reaching impact the Oct 7 attack had on the whole of Israeli society. In such a serious state of war and crisis, support for the State of Israel, the homeland of the Jewish people, through Israel Bonds becomes more vital than ever.

Afterwards I introduced our New Leadership division for young professionals. This initiative brings together emerging leaders, driven, accomplished individuals from a range of industries and backgrounds, who choose to volunteer their time and talent in support of Israel Bonds. Especially now, amid rising global hostility towards Israel, this strong international network offers something powerful: a way to stand with Israel through meaningful action and community. At the same time gaining something in return, a chance to connect with a circle of successful, inspiring peers and mentors who share their values and commitment.

The formal part of the evening gave way to lively and meaningful networking. Guests engaged with our three special guests: Sarah Singer, Vice President of the Central Welfare Board of Jews in Germany (ZWST), Christian Ludwig Prince of Prussia and great-great-grandson of Kaiser Wilhelm II, and the beloved Chabad Rabbi Yehuda Teichtal. The Rabbi, as always, brought lightness and laughter sharing some of his famous jokes and even sang with us.

Grateful for allies who show up with heart, across borders, faiths, and backgrounds.
