Celebrating International Women’s Day with Shabbat Lights and Strong Bonds
On March 18, Israel Bonds Women’s Division in Brazil hosted a vibrant and meaningful event in celebration of International Women’s Day, gathering over 50 women at the Beit Chabad Synagogue in the Morumbi neighbourhood. The evening was filled with inspiration and connection as we highlighted the important role of Israel Bonds in strengthening our bond with Israel—particularly in these challenging times.
The centrepiece of the evening was a hands-on activity where participants custom-designed their own unique Shabbat candle holders, offering a meaningful opportunity to connect with the mitzvah of lighting Shabbat candles every Friday with creativity and purpose.
Chani Goldberg, wife of Rabbi Dovi, shared some insights on the spiritual essence of and profound significance of this timeless tradition as everyone assembled their creations. She explained that each time we light the candles, we are not only connecting with our inner peace but also with the peace of our families—and, ultimately, with peace in the world.
A moving video followed, highlighting the legacy of the Shabbat candle lighting mitzvah across generations, countries and cultures, reinforcing its timeless value and importance.
As the women worked together to assemble their candle holders, choosing granite and decorative ornaments, they shared stories, engaged in meaningful discussions about Israel, Israel Bonds, and celebrated the spirit of unity that brings us together.
The evening was made even more special with a beautiful buffet of fresh salads, sweets, and drinks, an extra layer of festivity and enjoyment to the evening.
It was a night to remember, thanks to the amazing participants and our dedicated team of lay leaders whose passion and commitment made the event a true success.
