A Celebration of Flavors with Mexico’s Women’s Division

Mise en place is the foundational culinary practice of preparing and organizing ingredients before cooking. It ensures order, efficiency, and creativity in the kitchen, exactly what unfolded at our recent Spice Tasting event, where eight vibrant recipes were prepared from scratch using unique spices from Shoshi at Spice Market (@spicemarketmx).

The gathering was filled with friendship, joy and great fun, where creativity played an important role. Our committee members brought their best energy and enthusiasm, making the experience smooth and enjoyable for all. Under the guidance of Yemy (@yemysp), everything ran with the kind of grace and care she’s known for.

It was impressive to see each participant handle their ingredients with such confidence and precision. Their culinary talent was on full display, especially when working with bold and exotic flavors.

The menu was a celebration of color and taste. From homemade hummus and smoked tuna salad to tzatziki, herbed butters, mayonnaise, and a cream cheese roll with olives and tropical toppings, each dish delighted the senses. There were also sweet potatoes with pear, goat cheese, and tomatoes with pesto. And just when we thought the surprises were over, Yemy treated everyone to Shakshukiles, a creative blend of Mexican chilaquiles with Shakshuka sauce, followed by Mediterranean eggs seasoned with rich, aromatic spices.

The event was a true fiesta of flavor, offering a chance to discover preservative-free, high-quality ingredients and to enjoy the simple pleasure of cooking and learning together.

Above all, it was an afternoon of warmth, affection, sisterhood, and a deep sense of unity beneath the joy and laughter.

More than anything, it was an afternoon filled with warmth, affection, and sisterhood, where joy and laughter were rooted in a deeper sense of unity. Now more than ever, we feel the importance of standing with our beloved Israel. That’s what unites the Women’s Division committee in Mexico: love for Israel and the spirit of working together as one big family.
