Fest Rio Judaico: Celebrating Jewish Culture in Rio de Janeiro's Ipanema
Fest Rio Judaico, the largest Jewish cultural celebration in Rio de Janeiro, was held on Sunday, 16th June, at Praça da Paz in the heart of Ipanema, one of Rio's most upscale neighbourhoods and home to hundreds of Jewish families. As in previous years, the day-long event showcased Jewish culture and traditions, including music, dance, Jewish organisations, schools, youth movements, food, and much more. An estimated 10,000 people attended, including members of the Rio community, Brazilians, and foreign tourists.
Several lectures were offered to participants to educate the Rio de Janeiro community on combating antisemitism and hatred.
As in previous years, Israel Bonds was present at this important event.
“Fest Rio Judaico is a joyful event that brings together the entire Jewish community in Rio. This year, more than ever, we are focused on planting the seed of connection and support with Israel in the new generations and emphasising to the community the importance of continuity, passing the legacy of support to their children and grandchildren,” said Eyla Benedykt, Israel Bonds Brazil Representative.
