Jedes Jahr lädt der Oberbürgermeister von Frankfurt am Main Vertreter israelischer und jüdischer Organisationen ins Rathaus ein, um den Tag der deutsch-israelischen Freundschaft zu feiern.

Gestern war ein wenig anders als all die anderen Jahre. Every Year the Lord Mayor of Frankfurt am Main invites representants of Israeli and Jewish organizations to the Römer, town hall, to celebrate German-Israeli friendship day.

This year’s event was held on June 3rd, 2024, and was a little different than previous years. It was the first time the new Lord Mayor of Frankfurt am Main, Mike Josef hosted the gathering, and it was the first such event following the October 7th massacre. He was deeply disturbed by the portrayal of the perpetrators as victims in the media, and particularly on social media. He expressed his loyalty towards the Jewish people and the state of Israel.

Talya Lador Fresher, the Consul General of the state of Israel attended the event and spoke about the challenging times that Israel and the Jewish people are going through at the moment.

Both expressed their hope for peace and an end to hostilities against the Jewish people in Israel and around the world, as well as their confidence that Israel and the Jewish people will prevail.
