On Sunday, March 8, 2026, Israel Bonds Women’s Division, in partnership with the World Zionist Organization and St John’s Wood Synagogue, hosted a delightful afternoon Tea and talk exploring women who shaped the ritual of afternoon tea in celebration of International Women’s Day. The event featured Gillian Perry MBE, founder of World of Afternoon Tea and internationally recognized expert on the history and culture of afternoon tea.
Ms. Perry shared fascinating stories about the women who shaped the ritual of afternoon tea, weaving together history, tradition, and lively anecdotes. From the origins of this beloved British custom to the surprising controversies and colourful characters surrounding it, attendees were transported through the centuries, gaining a new appreciation for how tea has become a cultural and social institution.
